Nail in the tire.

I woke up this morning knowing that I was going to Power Hour Yoga today over lunch so I loaded up on breakfast to keep me going until I could eat after.  I like to give my tum tum at LEAST 2 hours to digest anything I’ve eaten before I do Power Yoga…it is no joke and I will get a cramp.  I had spicy scrambled egg whites, 2 buckwheat pancakes, and some fresh local blackberries.

Directions: Dump 4 egg whites in a heated/sprayed skillet and scramble in pepper and Cholula chili garlic flavored hot sauce .  When they are almost done, top with a little bit of parmesan and let it melt.

I just reheated some buckwheat pancakes that were frozen from a few weekends earlier, thanks to Elizabeth and Lindsey’s cooking skills :) and topped with some all natural maple syrup.  SO good and gave me plenty of energy for the lunchtime yoga sesh.

Now when I say Power Yoga, I mean POWER yoga.  The teach, Leslie, is my absolute favorite AND she makes us work really hard.  It’s fast paced and she always has the best tunes.  I think it’s rare to have an exercise teacher that kicks your butt and in your head you aren’t thinking “this bitch better not make me do one more thing or I’ll die.”  She is just so sweet and sincere that I could never get mad at her like that, haha.

I had to make a smoothie, to recover of course.

Trash Can Recovery Protein Smoothie

 Ingredients:

  • banana
  • 1/2 c. frozen strawberries
  • handfull of blueberries
  • handfull of raspberries
  •  6 ice cubes
  • spoonfull of greek yogurt
  • 2 scoops vanilla protein
  • pinch of xantham gum (to thicken)

It was good and sweet.  I’m calling it a trash can smoothie because I literally just threw in whatever fruit I had.  Note the straw in the bowl. I planned on putting it in a cup but didn’t have a big enough clean one, so I dumped it in a bowl and it was too liquidy to eat with a spoon, so I just sipped straight from the bowl.  Bad planning.

My late lunch looked like this:

Roasted red pepper hummus, guacamole, and arugula on multi grain sandwich thin and an organic pink lady apple on the side

It ended up being really good and was perfect for the amount of energy I needed to power through a 45 minute spin class after work.

Oh and how could I forget…got a nail in my tire.   I realized it because I could literally hear the air coming out.  Of course it didn’t go straight in, but at an angle so the air was justa flowin.  Just what I ordered after sweating my way through a workout to nowhere while listening to Grease’s “Summer Lovin’.”  Spin teach doesn’t have the same music taste as yoga teach. It’s a miracle I made it to Junie White’s Exxon.  Picking up my car in the a.m.

And now, almost time for the “meeting” my madre called to talk about our future wedding!!  She’s had a long day at camp and has requested we bring over a large mighty meaty pizza from Mellow Mushroom.  I’ll let y’all know how this goes…
