Charleston, 7/23: Folly + Taco Boy = Awesomeness

After seeing the roach Saturday morning, I busted through my hangover with the help of a 1hr 15min hot yoga class at Charleston Power Yoga.  I can’t believe I actually got up for a 9:00 hot yoga class, but I did, and it was glorious.

When I got back, we packed up and headed out to Folly Beach for the afternoon.  We chose Folly over Sullivan’s because we wanted to take a cooler and have a few beers without being paranoid about getting a ticket for drinking on the beach.  What a stupid rule – I think you should be able to enjoy a cold beverage on any beach as long as you throw away your trash.  Anyway, we saw some fantastic FUPAs, fatties and frat stars…not to mention some pretty sweet tatoos.  Gotta love Folly.

We headed to Taco Boy for dinner straight off the beach.

We enjoyed some Skinny Pineapple Infused Margaritas – the lighter version of their infused margarita.  It’s made without sour mix, which upsets my stomach, so I think the skinny is 10x better.

special house concoction of pineapple, cinnamon, vanilla infused Souza Gold Tequila, and agave nectar served on the rocks...please sir, may I have some more?

We got the appetizer trio to start.

roasted jalapeno tomato salsa, chili con queso and guacamole

Had to ask for a second helping of guac because it was so good (possibly might have had something to do with beer munchies, but that’s neither here nor there…)

fresh mashed avocado, red onion, jalapeno, garlic, salt and lime

I got 2 tacos – the Grilled Fish Taco in a bibb lettuce wrap (instead of corn tortilla)

chipotle marinated mahi mahi with cilantro, field greens and salsa cruda - yum

and the Portobello Mushroom Taco in a bibb lettuce wrap.

cumin seasoned portobello mushroom, black beans, poblano rajas, queso fresco and cilantro - yummier

I seriously loved both, but the mushroom taco hit the spot.  I managed to snag a pic of Caroline’s Carne Asada Quesadilla too.  It looked amazing…

We also made a trip to Ye Ole Fashioned Ice Cream specifically to get mint chocolate chip, but they were out.  I was mad, but not mad enough to forgo the cream…I chose strawberry instead.  That was our last move before going to bed at 10:00 on a Saturday night.  We’re cool.

Sunday we got up early and went with my aunt, uncle and cousins to church at St. Phillips and I got to meet the Rector that’s marrying John and I!

Had a Five Guys cheeseburger for lunch, Macaroni Grill for dinner, spent time with John, watched some HBO and that’s the end of the weekend…PHEW!  I’m all caught up.
