Food Randomness

Today I filled all of my free time with 2 things: cleaning and beauty parlor. I’ll get into that as I share my very poorly planned meals.

Breakfast on the go:

Egg whites on toasted pumpernickel – boring. I didn’t even spread any jelly on it.

Does anyone else think it looks like my windshield wiper thing is grinning at my breakfast sandwich? I think it wanted a bite or something…

Anyway, the sandwich held me over until my lunch break. Went home and made a supa-fast random (emphasis on random) pile of ??? with a side of eggplant.

The pile of ??? was sautéed onions, mushrooms, and gimme lean sausage – with black bean and corn salsa mixed in last minute.  I topped both the eggplant and the ??? with grated white cheddar cheese and actually enjoyed it. I do have to admit it looked pretty nappy, but I definitely didn’t have time to stop by the store – had to make do with whatever we had on hand.

Here’s where the cleaning came in. My parents just decided yesterday that the carpets upstairs are going to be cleaned on Thursday, which means everything has to be off the floor by then. The upstairs of their house consists of my room, my sister’s room, a guest room, and a play room type deal in the middle. Doesn’t sound like much, and it’s not – if you don’t use the play room as storage and your sister isn’t away at college. So, it is inevitably my job to get this done, and I can’t complain since I’m living fo free under their roof for the next few months.

I was determined to get it done today so I didn’t have to stress about it Wednesday night and spent the last part of my lunch break and 2 hours after work running around like Rosie.

I did skip my workout (again), but I’m alright with that since I successfully cleaned the entire upstairs.  WOO HOO!  I loathe cleaning and get a totally unnecessary sense of pride whenever I do it. I guess it’s sort of how I feel when I accomplish a daunting task, and cleaning is definitely daunting to me. I’m going to have to get over that REAL quick…

Back to food -

Dinner was just as random, if not more, than lunch. I took steak, sautéed corn, onions and peppers on top of lettuce over to Melonye’s (one of my very best friends) house, where she had spaghetti squash with homemade marinara sauce and brussels sprouts – that I helped myself to.

Again, the pile of randomness was actually really satisfying.

After we finished eating, we played beauty parlor (her favorite game) to test out some hair do’s for an upcoming par-tay this weekend.

She called that a “rose bud” and I called it a “low side bun.” Either way works. We did have fun though…I haven’t played with makeup/hair since, well, ever. I was quite the tomboy growing up, and she was more of the beauty parlor/house/school type. I’ve learned a lot from this gal over the years – WAYYYY more than just make-up and hair tips…

I’m going to bed on that note. Tootles!

Lindsay! I love your blog and have been following it for a few weeks! I was Melonye’s roommate at Sewanee freshman year! You and I met in Spartanburg and Sewanee a few times, but it was so long ago you may not remember me! Anyways, I loved this post especially because the two things I learned from Melonye are proper beauty tips (esp. self tanning) and other un-mentionables, haha! Gotta love her! I wanted to tell you congratulations on your engagement and let you know how inspiring your blog is! I have one myself but it is nothing compared to yours, mainly due to my pinterest distraction!

    All the best!

Hey Kyndall! Of course I remember you!! So glad you’re enjoying reading – I’m having a lot of fun with it. AND yes, Meloons definitely taught me how to apply self tanner…I believe it goes something like this: good exfoliation in the shower, dry off, apply evenly, and walk around naked until it soaks in. HAHA. Oh her tips…
