I really do love all things food – especially sharing what I dub delicious food with others. Good food and drink can make any occasion seem more enjoyable. Whether I’m the one doing the cooking or the one being served, I have always found myself wanting to taste, savor and talk about the sensations that first bite (or sip) brings. I have a serious passion for cooking, tasting, testing out recipes and feeding friends and family my creations. The satisfaction of entertaining the people I care about with a good meal and good conversation is unbeatable. This is something I wholeheartedly developed from my mom. She even had her own restaurant when my sister and I were little that was totally loved and embraced by our community. I realize how spoiled I was growing up to have a live in chef that made us sit down as a family to eat dinner almost every night. Whether we liked it or not, we were pickin up what she was puttin down. (The majority of the time I was more than happy to pick it up.) I swear this is what gave me such a broad palate for food…thanking ToTo for it now.
Trying new restaurants and revisiting old ones is a whole’nother story. I love going out to eat to see what “real chefs” are creating. I equally like going to hole-in-the-wall joints vs. fancy gourmet restaurants. Part of me wanting to start a blog was to share all of the cool places we go out to eat. Even though I grew up in Spartanburg, I feel like we find new places to try all the time around here…not to mention places we find out of town…
I try to eat fresh, local, organic good for you foods. I have a pretty well balanced diet and thoroughly enjoy feeling good about fueling my body with all of the nutrients it needs.
HOWEVER, I do give into my cravings whenever those puppies creep in. Being a foodie also means being a huge fan of ice-cream, cookies, all things sugar and carbs, pizza, greasy heaven in your mouth cheeseburgers, etc. I’ve just found that the key here is moderation.
Throughout the blog you’ll find recipes I deem worthy, meals of merit, health savvy snacks, restaurants I visit, applicable tips, good pics and anything food-related.
